The Best Eye Makeup for Blue Eyes: Warm Browns!

Friday, March 15, 2013

I recently picked up a few MAC eyeshadows that had been on my list for awhile: Satin Taupe, Soft Brown, Swiss Chocolate, and Texture. I started playing around with them as well as my new NYX Nude Matte shadow in Dancing the Tides, and put together a great set of colors to make my blue eyes pop!

This eye look would look great with any eye color, but the warm browns really complement blue eyes especially.

All the products I mention below I have purchased myself with my own money
or they have been gifts from family and friends.

The Brushes
You can really get away with these brushes for eyeshadow and be done,
there's no need for any more in my opinion! From Top to Bottom:
-MAC 239 for all over the lid and packing on the shadow
-MAC 217 for the crease and blending
-Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush to really blend and soften the outer edges
-Essence of Beauty Fine Crease brush for undereye smudging

The Shadows
Here's my new MAC quad
Starting from the top left, going clockwise:
Satin Taupe, Soft Brown, Swiss Chocolate, and Texture
The single shadow is NYX Nude Matte in Dancing the Tides

I just used the light shade Naked 2 in this Naked Basics palette

For this look, I went a little backwards; I started with the darkest color, NYX's Dancing the Tides, all over the lid with my 239 brush. Then I went in with my 217 brush and put that same shadow all over the crease. I packed on some Soft Brown toward the inner edge of my eyes and used just a bit of Texture in the crease with the 217 as well. While doing this look, I realized that Dancing the Tides is basically a dupe in color for Texture, with the only difference is that DTD is a tiny smidge darker and Texture has slight slight shimmer.

Then I packed on Satin Taupe towards the outer edge of my eyelid then blended the whole thing together with the Sigma E40 brush to erase any sharp edges. I used the much lighter Naked 2 shade from the Naked Basics palette to tie together my intense brown eye with the rest of my eye area.
My last step with the shadows was to use my Essence of Beauty Fine Crease brush with Dancing the Tides below my lower lashline for a smokier look.

Eyeliner
For tightlining and getting the lower water line, I used CoverGirl Liquiline Blast in Black Fire.
For normal eyeliner, I used NYX Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner BEL06.

Mascara
I started with the new Physicians Formula Organic Wear Fake Out Mascara in Black.
Then I piled on my deluxe sample of Lancôme Hypnôse Star in 01 Noir Midnight for extra oomph.

Here's the Full Face! I'm also wearing:
-Dr. Jart Detox BB cream
-Maybelline Instant Age Rewind undereye concealer in Brightener
-Revlon Nearly Naked powder in Fair
-The Balm Mary Luminizer highlighter
-NYX Taupe blush for contour
-MAC Melba blush
-Milani Brow Fix powder in Light
-Wet n' Wild 906D lipstick (it had faded to a stain)

A Side Look

Hope you enjoyed!
