Physicians Formula 'Natural Nude' Shimmer Strips + 'Sexy Eyes' Eyeshadow Quad

Sunday, February 23, 2014

I popped into CVS last week to see what was new at the drugstore. CVS was doing a 40% off sale on all Physicians Formula products and I had a PF $5 off $15 CVS coupon so I decided to stick with that brand for my shopping haul. I spent $12 and change for a new Shimmer Strips palette and a Sexy Booster Oh So Sexy Eye Shadow Quad, which is a great deal. One thing I always say is "never pay retail for drugstore beauty items!"

Check out my swatches and first impressions below!

I used the BECCA One Perfecting Brush to sweep all the colors in the Natural Nude Shimmer Strips all over the brush, so I could easily get the bronze, blush, and highlight shades all in one go. Swirled together, the shade reminds me of a darker version of The Balm's Mary Luminizer highlighter. There was a lot of fallout using this product, so make sure you tap your brush off before you apply to the face. I like how multitasking the shimmer strips can be, so I give this palette a B+.

For the eyes in this look, I used all the shades in the Sexy Booster Oh So Sexy Sexy Eyes quad. You can use these wet or dry, and I did both for this look. The only thing I didn't like was that the black was shimmery and I much prefer a matte black in the crease and outer-v as I think it makes the look more professional. I did use the black in the lower lashline for an extra smoky effect. The shadows were pretty pigmented and had no fallout. They didn't crease or fade throughout the day. I give this quad a B.

Have you picked up any of the new Physicians Formula products yet? I'd love to hear thoughts on the new Nude Wear range!

    1. Hey Mady!

Some eyeshadows don't work well with a damp brush. But the ones that can, mostly shimmery shadows, appear bolder and more pigmented on the eyes when applied with a damp eyeshadow brush. This is great for nights out!
