Review: W3LL PEOPLE Universalist Matte Multi-Use Colorstick in 'Dusty Rose'

Thursday, November 20, 2014

After I blogged about a huge pharmaca.com haul, I was contacted by Pharmaca to see if I'd be interested in reviewing one of their natural beauty products. Of course I jumped at the chance! I wanted to learn more about the brand W3LL PEOPLE, so I was sent the company's Universalist Matte Multi-Use Colorstick in the color Dusty Rose for review.

Check out my photos and thoughts below!

The brand W3LL PEOPLE prides itself for having stylish products that deliver a natural "no-makeup" look with state-of-the-art, all-natural formulas. According to the brand's bio, W3LL PEOPLE's co-founders were "an elite makeup artist, a cosmetic dermatologist and tree-hugging entrepreneur." Sounds like a winning dream team to me!

Packaging
Multi-use colorsticks are meant to be used as cheek, eye or lip color. The stick packaging is incredibly travel-friendly. The brand's Universalist Matte Multi-Use Colorsticks ($34.50 for 0.375 oz) are identical in packaging to NARS' The Multiple makeup sticks ($39 for 0.5 oz). Another natural beauty brand, Ilia, sells its own colorsticks ($34 for 0.176 oz).  You get a ton of product for the price, and I don't see myself running out anytime soon.

Application and Finish
W3LL PEOPLE suggests to warm, tap, and blend the product using your fingertips before applying on the face. The instructions specifically say to not apply directly onto the face — which is exactly what I accidentally did the first time! If you do do this, make sure you blend right away, as the product is very pigmented and sets pretty quickly. Because there's no petroleum, it doesn't feel greasy at all on the cheeks. Either way you apply, it's an easy, no-mess application. This definitely appears matte and very natural on the cheeks, which is of course, my preference!

As a lip product, this applies smoothly comes across as a matte satin finish. Not drying at all.

Color
As you can see from my swatches above (I'm wearing the colorstick on the lips and cheeks), the name is pretty spot-on. It's very pigmented, and Dusty Rose is a great everyday color! On the cheeks, it gives me a nice healthy flush. I absolutely loved Dusty Rose as a lip color — I think it looks leans slightly more salmon pink on the lips than on the cheeks.

Wear Time
On the cheeks, the colorstick lasted 10+ hours — even through a hot yoga class! On the lips, this lasted about 3 hours before a touch-up was necessary.

Overall, I'm loving this W3LL PEOPLE colorsticks! Not only are they free from nasty ingredients and non-greasy like some colorsticks can be, but the W3LL PEOPLE colorsticks deliver in pigmentation, application ease and wear time. These are very high quality! Matte+Crimson approved.
