My 5 Holy Grail Lipsticks

Monday, January 14, 2013

Here they are, my top five favorite lipsticks!

I have chosen five that could carry me throughout the year.  I have bought these all in the past year, but I will 100% purchase them again and again. For three of these lipsticks, I did some major research on other blogs and YouTube before I pulled the trigger.

The other two were lovely surprises!

MAC Crème Cup (Cremesheen)
$15

MAC describes this as "light blue pink."

This is a perfect pinky-nude for my skin tone, but I know this color works for everyone as well. This works great alone or under a gloss. This is my go-to lip pairing for a smokey eye look. Its cremesheen formulation is a dream!

I have a thing for smells good and bad and I can't get enough of the MAC lipstick light vanilla smell. Mmm....

MAC Ravishing (Cremesheen)
$15

MAC describes this as a "clean light peachy coral."

Ravishing is a wonderful color for summer. It's perfect with a slight tan and peach cheeks. Corals can be too trendy for day to day sometimes, but I have found that this color is super wearable for work.

NARS Red Square (Velvet Matte Lip Pencil)
$24
This is the J.Crew orange-red matte lip! I do believe they've used a variety of lip colors, but I know for a fact that this color has been used on their gorgeous models.
I admit that I didn't want to pull the trigger on a $24 lip pencil but I am so glad that I did. I have found very similar dupes, but nothing takes my breath away like Red Square. I love that I barely need a mirror to apply this and the matte finish is o-so-chic.

UGH! Can't get over this color. I feel like a model wearing it. LOVE IT.

NARS Dragon Girl (Velvet Matte Lip Pencil)
$24

NARS describes Dragon Girl as a "vivid, siren red." This is blue-tone red that makes your teeth look white, white, white! For that alone, you should get it, I do not kid you.

Like Red Square, this shade is a head-turner, so you have to be pretty confident to pull this off in the daytime, but I do it! Also like Red Square, what makes this a Holy Grail for me is the easiness of application combined with the unique color and matte finish.

Wet 'n' Wild 906D Wine Room (Mega Last Lip Color)
$1.99

The Wet 'n' Wild Mega Last lipsticks are so pigmented. Most of the shades are matte or satin finish, which is my favorite. This color is so gorgeous! I have been wearing Wine Room almost ever day this fall/winter season.

I have tons of wine-berry lipsticks but Wine Room just blows everything out of the water. It just lights up my face. And with that crazy price, I have one at work, a couple at home, one in the car, etc etc etc.

Hope you enjoyed!

Anaïs

  1. Trying to love matte lipcolors but it's not happening.. A serious question because I need someone to explain it to me - why do you like matte lipcolors? What is itabout this look that appeals to you - matte as opposed to a shinier product? Thanks in advance ~ SP
