Eyeshadow Review + Dupe Alert: Stila 'Kitten' and L'Oréal Paris Inflallible 'Blinged and Brilliant'

Monday, October 14, 2013

Stila's eyeshadow Kitten is one of the brand's best-selling products. It is a gorgeous shimmering nude peachy-pink. I've had my eye on this shadow for quite awhile now, especially since it's my friend Katy's go-to shadow and it looks gorgeous on her. When my birthday came around last month, I snapped it up!

L'Oréal Paris Infallible eyeshadow Blinged and Brilliant was part of the 2012 Diamonds Limited Edition collection. I remember picking this metallic champagne pink shadow last year and thinking to myself how it seemed like it'd be a great dupe to Kitten, and now I have both to compare.

Color
As you see in the no-flash photos below,  you can see that Blinged and Brilliant is champagne pink than Kitten is more of a champagne peach, but in the photos with flash, they look almost exactly the same. Both are great for all over the lid (see photos below) and especially to brighten up the inner corner of they eye.

Texture + Application
Blinged and Brilliant is more finely milled, and applies much smoother with much less fallout than KittenOne bad thing to note about metallic and shimmery shadows: they can emphasize dry or wrinkled eyelids. On me, Kitten makes my eyelids slightly less "wrinkly" than Blinged and Brilliant does.

Lasting Power
Both shadows are incredibly long-lasting, lasting all day with little-to-no creasing.

Price
L'Oréal Infallible eyeshadows are in the $8 range, while Stila single eyeshadows are $18. Since Blinged and Brilliant was a 2012 limited edition shade,  you'll have to go the Amazon or Ebay route to get your hands on it, which of course will raise the price.

Final Thoughts
If you happened to have picked the limited edition L'Oréal Infallible Blinged and Brilliant up last year, I would say don't worry about adding Kitten to your collection. But if you missed out and don't want to go the Ebay route, then pick up Kitten stat!

I purchased the products I mention above with my own money.

  1. Thanks for the great detail in both photo & commentary! The way they look on your eyelids tells the story. Been searching for a dupe for UD Bootycall which can only be had in the shadow set & not as a single. I think Kitten will do nicely. ☺️
