The Travel Diaries: Makeup Products I Brought to SXSW

Saturday, March 15, 2014

Last week, I went on a work trip to Austin, Texas for the SXSW Interactive and Film Festival. I made sure to pick out items that would last from 8am until well past midnight. Below I break down the items I brought on my trip and review my favorite item.

For the trip, I chose some long-wearing makeup and made sure to pack a setting spray. Towards dinnertime, I had to touch up my T-zone with powder and reapply lipstick, but for the most part, my face stayed intact.

Face:
Cover FX Mattifying Primer With Anti-Acne Treatment * + L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup  'Classic Ivory' + MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NW20 * + Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder 'Fair'  + Urban Decay Setting Spray 'Dew Me' *

Cheeks:
Tarte Aqualillies Eye and Cheek palette (LE) * + Physicians Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls 'Light Bronze Pearl' *

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion + MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot 'Soft Ochre' * + Whitening Lightning Brow Bar to Go + Tarte Aqualillies Eye and Cheek palette (LE) * + Maybelline Volum'Express The Rocket Mascara 'Blackest Black' * + Sleek MakeUp Ink Pot Eyelner 'Dominatrix' * + Smashbox Brow Tech to Go 'Taupe' *

Lips:
Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick 'Let's Get Naked'

The surprising item for me was my Physicians Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls in 'Light Bronze Pearl.' I had bought it months ago but hadn't really tested it out. It gives such a light bronze healthy sheen to the cheeks. It's very finely milled so it gives off a sexy J.Lo glow. I can't recommend this shade of the Mineral Glow Pearls enough, especially for pale girls like me! I will definitely be rocking it on the daily this coming spring and summer.

Here's a photo of the awesome band Lucius performing at my work party.
I'm obsessed with their sound and the two lead singers' throwback 1960s beauty looks.
