A Warm Eye Look with the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette

Wednesday, May 13, 2015

I've got another matte eyeshadow palette in my collection! I am such a huge fan of Kat Von D as a tattoo artist and as a makeup creator, so when I heard she was coming out to an eyeshadow palette "sister" to her Shade + Light contour palette, I had to get it! I scooped up the Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette during the recent Sephora 15% off sale.

These shadows are an absolute dream to work with. She and her team have created an amazing matte eyeshadow formulation, and her colors choices are top notch. This palette has twelve shadows, grouped together in three quads: a neutral, cool, and warm quad. They're super pigmented! Like the other matte shadows I have from the Kat Von D line, these shades are very powdery, similar to the Lorac Pro formula, so tapping off any excess on your brush is must. The palette comes with a handy foldout teaching you how to define, lift, and balance the eyes. I haven't attempted to use those recommended techniques yet, but I will soon! My favorite shadows I've worked with so far are the warmer shades, seen in the look above.

Above, I'm wearing Ludwin as a transition shade along the crease with a fluffy brush, then more of that shade with a slightly denser blending brush, and along the outer-v, I'm wearing Succubus. On the lid, I'm wearing a combination of all four of the lightest shadows. Smudged on the lower lashline is more Ludwin and Succubus. I topped off the look tightlining and lining the lower rim and then lots of mascara! Skipping the liquid liner makes this look slightly more daytime appropriate. I love a good cat eye, but it's good to switch it up every once in awhile! On the lips, I'm wearing Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood.

The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette retails for $46 and is available at Sephora exclusively. It's paraben, sulfate, and phthalate-free. Made in the USA.
