Naked3 First Impressions Review and a Dupe!

Thursday, December 12, 2013

I was on the fence on getting the Urban Decay Naked3 palette, since I don't frequently use my Naked 1 and 2 palettes and I've been reading some mixed reviews, but i couldn't say no to the rose-toned neutrals (all new colors!) and my $20 off $50 VIP discount at Sephora. So I pulled the trigger and I'm so glad I did.

Take a closer look below and check out my 3 Looks 1 Palette post on the Naked 3!

Strange, Dust, Burnout, Limit, Buzz
I'm glad that there's three matte shades in the palette to blend out the crease. As I was swatching these, I did notice that a few shimmery shades like Dust and Buzz are a bit chunky, unfortunately.

Buzz, Trick, Nooner, Liar, Factory, Mugshot

Liar, Factory, Mugshot, Darkside, Blackheart

Blackheart looks so unique! It's described as a "smoky black matte with rosy red microsparkle."

The brushes that come with the palettes are not bad at all, and the double-ended ones that come with the Naked2 and Naked3 are great for traveling.

The top brush is the Naked palette's brush compared to the Naked3 brush's flat shader side.
The Naked3 flat shader side is identical in size to Naked2's flat shader side.

Naked2 on the left, Naked3 on the right.
Naked3's blending brush end is a little shorter and flatter than Naked2's blending brush end.

Although I'm a matte lover (hence my blog name), I love me some classy shimmer. There are quite a few shimmery shades that are calling my name. I'm really looking forward to wearing these shades in particular.

These are the shades I'm most excited to start playing with!
From top to bottom: Darkhorse, Trick,  Buzz, and Burnout

Here's the dupe! L'Oréal Infallible Amber Rush and Naked 3's Trick
(not perfectly in focus but you get the picture!)

Is anyone else loving this palette? I can't wait to share a few looks with the Naked3!

  1. Oh wow, Amber Rush & Trick look nearly identical on! I have Naked 3-I was on the fence about it as well, but took a chance & was so happy I did! I don't tend to wear alot of pinky or rosy shades, but these are just sooo pretty! But anyway, I'd been hearing tons of buzz about the L'oreal Amer Rush & it looked really pretty & I almost bought it today, but thought maybe I'd see if it was similar to anything I already had. It's gorgeous, but I think I'll have to pass, as they look nearly identical-even though it's drugstore, it's still $8

    1. I know! Yes, you definitely don't need Amber Rush if you already have the Naked 3, unless you do your makeup on the go like I do. I like to sometimes bring Amber Rush with me in my makeup bag instead of a big old palette, especially for those mornings when I'm applying my makeup on the subway (yes, I'm one of those!)
